Telling People About Jesus

Rembrandt - Simeon and Anna Recognize the Lord in Jesus - WGA19102“Anna . . . came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.” (Luke 2:36-38, NLT)

Telling people about Jesus–that’s exactly what Anna did that first Christmas. And that’s what we do in Keynote, and what our communication training teaches others to do.

I love it when God allows me to see long-term results from our training! My story starts a while ago–over 20 years ago when nearly all of us in Keynote participated in a huge international outreach in the Philippines. Singaporean staff member Mark Suredhran was there, too, and he saw one of the Keynote bands perform. Mark caught a vision for using music for evangelism in Singapore, so he went home and started a band called ForeRunner. As they ministered in their country, they felt the need for more training to become more effective in telling people about Jesus. Naturally, they thought of Keynote.

So in 1994 Mark and his team came to Indiana. It was a joy working with them; they were kindred spirits in ministry and became dear friends. The team returned to Singapore with not only more training, but a vision to train other Asians to share the gospel using music.

Their dream became a reality in 1998. I was part of a group of Keynote trainers who went to Singapore to teach our friends to become trainers. Together we taught staff members from Singapore, Hong Kong, Myanmar, India, the Philippines and Panama. As ForeRunner continued to train others, they established new evangelistic arts ministries in other Asian countries, including Thailand. I was thrilled to learn just last month that the music ministry of Thailand is passing along our communication training to nationals in the closed country of Laos.

From Singapore to Thailand to Laos–and in Latin America and Europe–our communication training is helping people learn how to tell others about Jesus, like Anna did that first Christmas. 2012 will bring unprecedented opportunities in this country, internationally and online to train people to share what Jesus has done in their lives.

Thank you for your partnership in ministry. And may we all follow in Anna’s footsteps!
