Keynote Summer Project 2008 Highlights

Highlight #1: Teaching

I was asked to teach a class on the Holy Spirit’s role in the Christian life (see http://godsquad.com/discipleship/satisfied.htm). I was excited about this opportunity, because God used these truths to totally transform my walk with Him. But, to be honest, I really had a hard time preparing for the class. I kept getting interruptions, and I kept reworking it, because I wasn’t satisfied with how it was turning out. During that time my sister had a health scare, and then just a few days before the session a friend of mine was rushed to the hospital with cardiac arrest .

I don’t think the timing of this was a coincidence. If there is one thing that Satan does not want us to know and apply, it is how to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. I honestly believe that this is the most important concept a Christian can learn.

The morning I of the class, I woke up and almost immediately felt impressed to add an example dealing with fear of failure. After the session, a student thanked me for – you guessed it – that very illustration.  She said, “I could show you what I wrote in my journal this morning – this is exactly what God has been speaking to me about!”

Highlight #2: Film Team

I loved doing communication coaching with the film team! The students were wonderful to work with, and it was really fun getting in on the ground floor of a new style of ministry for Keynote. My experience putting together programs for bands enabled me to give good guidance as the students chose short films and wrote a gospel presentation for their mini film festival outreaches. And to top it all off, I was an extra and said one line (off screen) in the film our students produced! You can view their film “Wreck” online at: http://globalshortfilmnetwork.com/films/35-wreck
