A Snake, a C.O.W., and a Garden

Sounds like the start of a joke or a riddle, doesn’t it? Actually, these three things relate to recent events in my ministry with Cru® that I want to tell you about.

A Snake: “The Snake Crusher” Bible Discussion Series

For the past couple of years, Campus Innovation has been testing, editing , retesting, and re-editing three Bible studies that we wrote for seekers and new believers. The first one we wrote is “The Snake Crusher,” and it’s been refined to the point of being ready to pilot across the ministry. Our Innovation director presented the study to leaders in the Campus Ministry to see if they would give us a green light, and they loved it! We will give a final edit to the material over the coming months to produce a polished version for wide distribution.

A C.O.W.: the Cru Orientation Weekend

April 17-19 was the Cru Orientation Weekend, which was hosted in the conference center next to our office. Nearly everyone from our office was involved in running this event, which provides initial training for new interns and part-time field staff of Cru. My role was to run slides for the speakers and worship band.

Over the years, thousands of next generation missionaries have come through Indy to receive their initial training before being sent to the world. This year the Indy conference (one of four around the U.S.) commissioned 129 new interns and part-time field staff. We’re so grateful that our office has had a huge part in training these new missionaries!

A Garden: a Campus Innovation Group Project

From April 13-16, our local Innovation team hosted all of Campus Innovation for our biennial meetings. We enjoyed meals together, prayed, played games, engaged in casual conversations, and discussed our work with Cru. It was wonderful to be face-to-face with my teammates from around the country!

During our time together we took on a group project that used the product development process we teach and use. Going along with our theme for the week — Connect & Renew — we “renew[ed] the face of the ground” (as Psalm 104 says of God) by building a spiral garden at my team leader’s new home. You can see the results of this fun project in the photo below!

The spiral garden our team planted

Thank you so much for your partnership! May you flourish like a well-watered garden as you walk with the Master Gardener!

Please Pray…

  • for wisdom for our team in finalizing “The Snake Crusher” for distribution
  • for our new interns and part-time field staff as they start their ministry journey

Thank you for praying!
